Fire Laboratory

Fipro Fire Laboratories provides laboratory services for testing low, medium and high expansion fire extinguishing foams and confirming the accuracy of the mixing ratios of foam fire extinguishing systems.

Most international safety organizations require that fire foam concentrates should be tested on an annual basis. Fire foam storage containers operating under harsh environmental conditions, such as ships, terminals, offshore platforms, and airports, should be routinely monitored for fire foam contamination and deterioration.

Most reputable foam concentrate manufacturers offer at least a 10 year life for products correctly stored in original containers with the manufacturer’s seal still intact (i.e. unopened).

For these reasons, annual testing is essential and is in fact recommended by many international standards such as NFPA11:2021 and BS EN 13565-2: 2018.

“At least annually, an inspection shall be made of foam concentrates. for evidence of excessive sludging or deterioration.   

Sample of concentrates shall be sent to the manufacturer or qualified laboratory for quality condition testing.”
